Collahuasi constantly seeks to foster training and professional development in order to permit internal promotion, contribute to the satisfaction of its workers and support them in maintaining and improving their competitiveness.

As a way of promoting the development and employability of people, Collahuasi permanently offers its workers training opportunities, allowing them to acquire knowledge of use not only for their technical performance but also in their personal and family life.

In 2009, Collahuasi’s direct employees received a total of 252,871 hours of training, equivalent to an average of 113.9 hours per person. This represented an increase of 8.8% on the previous year.

One of Collahuasi’s key training initiatives in 2009 was its Leadership and Values Programme, provided for both its own employees and contractors’ supervisors, through which the company’s present leaders seek to develop the leaders of the future. In 2009, all Collahuasi’s supervisors attended this programme.

Career development is one of Collahuasi’s principal goals and, in 2009, 100% of its executives and supervisors were evaluated, totalling 551 employees.
