Feeling free and weightless in the depths of the sea is a sensation that few have experienced, yet it is a common practice for the diving team working on the marine works for the Desalination Plant of the C20+ Project, at the coastal edge of Puerto Collahuasi.
The work underwater along the Patache coast involves not only the 18 specialized commercial divers but also a full team of 70 people, including mechanics, vessel captains, diving nurses, hyperbaric chamber operators, safety officers, and supervisors. These professionals are divided between two ferry-type vessels, Rocío VIII and Rocío IX, where ensuring the safety of the crew is a crucial part of the planning and execution process.
