Collahuasi’s activities span from the highlands to the coast
Minning Operation
Collahuasi’s deposits are located in the highlands of the Atacama Desert, at an altitude of 4,400 meters above sea level, in an Andean region characterized by a rainy summer climate and occasional snowfall in winter. The village of Huatacondo is situated 40 km from the mining operations, and the towns of Pica and Matilla are located 130 km and 135 km away, respectively. These areas are surrounded by zones of high biological diversity, such as salt flats, wetlands, and bofedales (high-altitude wetlands).
Port
The molybdenum concentrate processing and mineral shipments take place at Punta Patache, south of Iquique. This area has a coastal desert climate, with abundant low cloud cover and less than 5 mm of annual rainfall.
